Lanlogic President Art Closson
For 13 years I ran a mid sized alarm company servicing over 5000 accounts in the San Francisco Bay Area. One of my continuing goals was to leverage technology in an effort to deliver a better product to our customers and provide a competitive advantage.
This was in the early days of business computing and we had an AppleTalk network for Sales, a Novell network for Accounting
and a Unix based system for
our alarm Central Station.
On
multiple occasions I hired consultants and vendors to help with various
pieces in an effort to integrate the three systems with mixed results.
In 1995 my partners and I accepted an offer from a larger alarm company
and it was time to think about what to do next. This was in the early
days of the Internet and I decided that it was time to try a new business.
My
assumption was that there were many companies that had similar visions
as I did regarding computing and just needed help putting it all together.
As is often the case, I grossly underestimated what it would take to
become proficient in my new field but I also had a tremendous amount
of fun in the process.
In the security business we found that we could provide a better level
of service when we were able to offer a complete system and we have
used the same idea at Lanlogic by providing not only the onsite installation
and support but also the critical ISP services such as email, web hosting
and DNS services. Over time we have added additional services as the
needs arose such as spam filtering and network monitoring.
Our
goal at Lanlogic is to help you get the most of your technology
dollar while realizing as many of the productivity enhancements
as possible. As your businesses become more dependent on technology
it becomes critical that you have a partner that is looking out
for your best interests and not just trying to sell you the latest
gadget. We are looking for long term relationships that stand the
test of time, for example we still support our first three customers.
We
live every day by our two tag lines; "Real People, Real Service" and "On
Time, On Budget, Guaranteed". All employees are empowered
to do "whatever it takes" to support our customers as
efficiently and economically as possible. We will never recommend
something that we don't use internally.
