Windows XP users
1. Click Start, Settings, and Control Panel
2. Open System
3. Click the "Automatic Updates" tab.
4. Check the option for "Keep my computer up to date."
5. If you are enabling this feature by checking this box, select one of the three settings on how you wish to be notified for updates. We would recommend you select the first option, "Automatically download recommended updates for my computer and install them: Every day (time is your choice)"
6. Click Apply and Ok.
Windows 2000 users

How to sign up for Microsoft Update
There are two stages to this process that you'll follow in these steps.
- Set up the Microsoft Update program and Automatic Updates. (You only do this once.) Depending on your system, this might include installing two ActiveX controls, which are small pieces of software that help Microsoft Update talk to your computer.
- Direct Microsoft Update to check your computer and install any necessary updates.
- When you're connected to the Internet, go to http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate or click Microsoft Update on any Microsoft.com site.
(If you've already signed up, you'll skip straight to Step 7.)

- Click Start Now, and then click Continue.
- Follow the directions on the screen to install this ActiveX control.

- Click Install.
Depending on how your computer is set up, you might need to repeat steps 3 and 4 once more. This is all part of setting up the Microsoft Update program to work with your computer.

- If you've been using Automatic Updates, go to Step 6. If you have not been using the Automatic Updates service, click:
- Turn it on now to sign up, and follow the directions on the screen.
- Change setting to turn on Automatic Updates. Follow the directions on the screen.
- Now that you have set up the Microsoft Update program and turned on Automatic Updates, click Check for Updates.
- Click to choose either Express or Custom installation.
- Express finds high-priority updates for your computer which you install with one click.
- Custom finds both high-priority and optional updates (listed at the left of the screen). You individually review and select the updates you want to install.

- Microsoft Update scans your computer for the updates it needs. Follow the directions on the screen to download and install them.
Windows Mobile Device users
For Windows Mobile users who connect to a PC
First make sure your PC is up-to-date.

NOTE: Make sure you update all PCs that you may connect to your Windows Mobile device.
For Windows XP SP2 and Windows Server 2003, the update has already been deployed using Automatic Updates and should be installed if you have Automatic Updates enabled. If you want to verify that it is installed, you can visit Windows Update and make sure all High Priority items are installed.
For Windows 2000 or earlier versions of Windows XP, see the 2007 time zone update for Microsoft Windows operating systems to the clock on your PC.
First make sure to update your PC by installing the 2007 time zone update for Microsoft Windows operating systems; which can be found here. This will update the clock on your PC.
If you use Microsoft Outlook to synchronize your calendar, download and run the Outlook Time Zone Update Tool which can be found here. If you do not use Micrososoft Outlook, proceed to step 4.
Next, connect your Windows Mobile device to your PC, then download and run the Daylight Saving Time 2007 Update Tool for Windows Mobile which can be found here.
NOTE: For some versions of Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC, there will be additional updates required that will be available the week of February 26. We apologize for the inconvenience.
IMPORTANT: This is your last step but it is an important one. After running the updates above, you must manually change the time zone once on your device. Follow the directions below (Note: the directions are different for Windows Mobile Pocket PCs or smartphones. If you are not sure what device you have here’s how to tell.)
For a Pocket PC:
Go to Start > Settings > Clock & Alarms > Time tab.
Change the current time zone to any time zone other than the one that is currently selected.
Tap OK and tap Yes to save changes to the clock settings.
Change the current time zone to the one you want to use.
Tap OK and tap Yes to save changes to the clock settings.
For a Smartphone:
Go to Start > Settings > Clock & Alarms > Date and Time.
Change the current time zone to any time zone other than the one that is currently selected.
Click Done.
Change the current time zone to the one you want to use.
Click Done.
Windows Mobile users who do NOT connect to their PC
For users that do not connect to PCs, there is an update file (CAB) available to make this update. (Note: there are a number of ways to install a CAB file and below outlines a popular method).
Also, Microsoft Exchange users note: Contact your system administrator to make sure your Exchange Server has been updated as well.
Using the Microsoft Internet Explorer Mobile browser on your device, go to http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/default.mspx and download the Daylight Saving Time 2007 Update for Windows Mobile. This file will install the update directly on the device. On your device, navigate to the file you downloaded, and then click on it to install the update. If you are able to download the link jump to step 4, if not proceed to step 2.

If you are unable to access the link in step 1 on your device, open Windows Internet Explorer on your PC and download the link below to your PC. You will need to know if you have a Windows Mobile Pocket PC or a smartphone. (Don't know? Here’s how to tell.)

- After downloading the file, attach it to an e-mail and send it to an account you can access on your device. On your device, open the e-mail and save the attached file; on some devices, you may need to synchronize your e-mail a second time to download the attached file. Then navigate to the file on your device and click on it to install the update.
IMPORTANT: This is your last step but it is an important on. After running the updates above, you must manually change the time zone once on your device. Follow the directions below (Note: the directions are different for Windows Mobile Pocket PC's or Smartphone's. If you are not sure what device you have, here’s how to tell.)
