Back-up Solutions

One of the most critical and fragile of all network
services is your backups. Traditionally most companies backup to tape. A better solution in our opinion is to backup directly to disk on a network attached storage device and then copy backups to tape. This reduces the backup window and speeds restores when needed. Since the backup to tape is not service affecting it can happen during the day without affecting performance. If you have multiple offices you might even consider replicating the backups between two NAS devices.

No matter what strategy you use the backups need to be monitored daily, unfortunately the technology is not yet set and forget. Our monitoring offerings include monitoring of daily backup reports for just this reason.
